Situated in Xujiahui, a prosperous
business center in south-west
part of Shanghai, the China
Center for Reproductive Health
Technical Instruction and
Training was established in
Shanghai in 1996. It is affiliated
to the International Peace
Maternity and Child Health
Hospital of the China Welfare
Institute - a tertiary obstetrics
and gynaecology hospital.
Since its setting up, CCRHTIT
has held hundreds of training
workshops for health providers
from Shanghai and other parts
of China. From 1997 on, the
Center has become a collaboration
partner under the UNFPA south-south
cooperation project. It conducted
training workshops on topics
as quality service of reproductive
health and family planning
techniques, quality of care,
Counselling in RH for countries
as Vietnam, Thailand, Laos,
Philippines, Myanma, DPRK,
Malaysia, India and Bangladesh
and so on. Various training
programs are welcomed and
highly evaluated by participants.
Regarding research, besides
clinical and epidemiological
researches on contraception
and family planning, the center
recently focused more on cross-cutting
issues in RH/FP area, such
as in socio-psychological
aspects. We not only serve
the population for their medical
needs, but to care them with
more humanitarian concerns
as well, such as in the Adolescent
Reproductive Health program.
