Meeting 2004
12-13 April 2004, Kampala, Uganda
During 12th and
13th April 2004, Partners Country
Coordinators (PCC) from Bangladesh,
China, Egypt, The Gambia, Kenya,
Mali, Morocco, Senegal, Uganda,
Tunisia, Yemen and Zimbabwe participated
in a meeting to advance in the design
of the new Strategic Plan 2005-2014
for The Partners.
The meeting was
part of the Road Map prepared by
the Secretariat and approve by the
Executive Committee meeting that
was held immediately after this
event. The venue of the meeting
was the Nile Hotel at Kampala, Uganda.
During the meeting
PCC made a SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses,
Opportunities and Threats) of reproductive
health, population and development
issues in their respective countries,
and then had the opportunity to
discussed common elements among
countries. Participants also revisited
the alliance’s mission, trying
to figure it out whether it is still
valid and analysing needs for improvement
due to the changing global environmental
situation.
This event was organised
to respond to the agreement of the
8th Board Meeting in Jakarta in
October 2003, which called the alliance
to review the current strategic
goals and strategies in order to
align the organisation to help member
countries to achieve the goals of
the International Conference in
Population and Development (Cairo,
1994) and the Millennium Development
Goals by the year 2015.
The meeting was
facilitated by experts from Management
Sciences for Health (MSH), which
has been supporting The Partners
with organisational strategic analysis
from 2003, and by Secretariat’s
professional staff.
