hosted PPD's Tenth Annual Board Meeting
in Agra from 21-23 November 2005.
•
In
September 2005 India organized a National
Dissemination Workshop under VLP project.
At the end of the two and half years
of successful project implementation,
the NDWs identified and promoted a
group of committed and trained visionary
leaders in population and reproductive
health. The principal objective of
the NDWs was to share experiences
and “showcase” the actions
and achievements of the VLP participants
(known as “VLP Fellows”)
in their professional capacity and
as VLP graduates.
•
It
hosted the Kochi Conference from 12-15
June 2001 on “Essential Health
Commodity Security through South-South
Collaboration”.
•
Delegations
from Bangladesh, Indonesia, Nigeria,
Uganda, Kenya and Zimbabwe were invited
by Famycare, an Indian pharmaceutical
manufacturing company, to explore
commodity exchange programmes.
•
India
is home to the PPD’s first Desk
Officer for Asia, Ms Adarsh Misra,
1997-1999.
India led a project under the Family
Planning Association of India on adolescent
health, sexuality, information and
counselling services with Nepal and
Pakistan. The methodology developed
in India was shared and adapted to
the needs of the other countries.

Zimbabwe,
Gambia, Uganda, Bangladesh and Indonesia
benefited from fellowship courses
in population from IPS India.
•
India
benefited from fellowship courses
from Egypt, Bangladesh, and Indonesia.
The National Institute of Family Welfare
conducted two GLP training courses
in 2002.
