National
Workshop on National support for South–South
Cooperation in Population and Developmentt
held in New Delhi India
New Delhi, India —
PPD
and the Ministry of Health and Family
welfare, Government of India and National
Institute of Health and Family Welfare
(NIHFW) jointly organized the “National
South-South Workshop in Population
and Sustainable Development”
on December 11th 2008. The overarching
objective of the workshop and the
subsequent discussions was to inform
the participant of the scope of strengthening
the South –South cooperation.
The Workshop was attended by Mr. Harry
S. Jooseery, Executive Director, Partners
in Population and Development, Prof.
Deoki Nandan Director, NIHFW, Delhi,
India, Ms. Aradhana Johri PCC and
Joint Secretary, Ministry of Health
and Family Welfare, India and Mr.
Nesim Tumkaya Country Representative,
UNFPA, India.

Executive
Director of PPD in his address thanked
the Government of India for their
sustained efforts towards supporting
PPD and congratulated H.E. Anbumani
Ramadoss Honorable Minister, Ministry
of Health and Family Welfare, Government
of India for elected as a New Chair
of PPD for next three years. He also
acclaimed that people from the South
have strength to make the 21st Century
as a great century for the future
generation. PPD wishes that India
would play a leading role at international
event.
