South-South Workshop on Access to
Reproductive Health for the Achievement
of ICPD PoA and MDGs

in collaboration with the Ministry
of Social Development, Government
of the Republic of South Africa organized
National South-South Workshop on Access
to Reproductive Health for the Achievement
of ICPD Plan of Action and MDGs held
in Pretoria, South Africa on 29 August.
The overarching objective of the workshop
and the subsequent discussions was
to inform the participant of the scope
of strengthening the South–South
cooperation. The Executive Director
of PPD and the Regional Director of
IPPF Africa Region Mr. Tewodros Melesse
together with Chief Director of the
Department of Social Development and
PCC for South Africa Mr. Jacques van
Zuydam and WHO and UNFA Country Representatives
for South Africa were present in this
workshop.

The
Executive Director of PPD briefed
the participants on the initiative
taken by PPD to build the national
structure in its Member States to
promote South-South Cooperation. The
Executive Director also met H.E. Dr.
Jean Swanson-Jacobs, Honorable Deputy
Minister of Social Development, Government
of the Republic of South Africa and
she pledged to set up a National Task
Force to reinforce the South-South
Cooperation in South Africa and in
the region.
