Dissemination
of Generic Modules on Population,
Reproductive Health, and Gender Developed
by PPD to Provincial BKKBN Training
Centers
Jakarta, Indonesia —
The
Center of International Training and
Collaboration (PULIN) BKKBN has conducted
the dissemination of generic module
on Population, Reproductive Health,
and Gender as developed by PPD. The
dissemination was done in 23 February
2009 and attended by 35 participants
representing six BKKBN Provincial
Training centers and 2 training divisions
of BKKBN central office. The participants
comprise of head of the BKKBN provincial
training center and trainers from
BKKBN central office and provincial
office.
Some
burning issues during the discussion
as follows:
1. Contents
and length of training. The contents
of module are substantial but too
broad. Also the length of training
is not applicable because is too
long. Typically, the duration of
training is in between 5 –
7 days.
2. The
book references are instrumental
but take time to obtain or to access.
As the core or main reference, participants
suggest PPD to materialize the references
and send to country members of PPD
particularly to Indonesia/BKKBN.
3. The
generic module is too theoretical.
Particularly of Gender issue, participants
are eager to insert into the curriculum
since that Indonesia is a country
with Muslims as the majority is
successfully mainstreaming gender
issues into the development including
family planning. Even Indonesia
put gender development by establishing
state ministry of women empowerment.

Participants
of the events
At
the end of the meeting, BKKBN provincial
Training centers agreed to follow
up the following activities:
1. Disseminate
generic modules to relevant stakeholders
in their respective provinces,
2.
Establish working team of Trainers
3.
Develop specific training
based on the generic modules as
piloting. BKKBN Training Centers
will also insert the module partially
into their trainings
4.
Advocate local government
to allocate budget to support the
training
Prior
to the dissemination period, PULIN
has translated generic modules from
English to Indonesian version. To
meet the efficiency and effectiveness
of training, BKKBN developed a curriculum
which consists of the four modules
as a one training package by selecting
important parts in each module.
