Vietnam
expressed their willingness to adhere
to the membership of PPD
Hanoi, Vietnam —
Vietnam
came forward to further review the
benefits of membership of PPD and
invited the Executive Director of
PPD to visit and discuss with the
concerned authority in Vietnam from
25 to 28 March 2009.
The
Executive Director had meetings with
the Vice Minister and senior officials
of the Ministry of Health and with
the officials of The General Office
for Population-Family Planning (GOPFP).
The meetings were held in a cordial
and positive atmosphere which generated
renewed enthusiasm about the membership
of PPD. During the discussion, the
concerned Vietnam authority expressed
their willingness to adhere to the
membership of PPD. They informed that
after consultation with the Ministry
of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry
of Finance they will submit the Expression
of the Government of Vietnam’s
interest to become the member of PPD.
The
Executive Director also visited the
School of Public Health and Institute
of Population and Social Affairs of
the National Economic University in
order to identify the potential institution
to be one of the Partner Institutes
in the country after becoming member.
