Program Coordinator
Partners
in Population and Development (PPD)
is an Inter-governmental Alliance
of 25 developing countries from Asia,
Africa, Latin America and the Middle
East established with a mission to
expand and improve South-South collaboration
in the fields of family planning,
reproductive health, population and
development. PPD is seeking an experienced
international professional in Reproductive
Health, Population and Development
program conversant with the dynamics
of international development assistance
to coordinate the implementation of
its South-South exchange initiatives.
The
position will be for its Secretariat
based in Dhaka, Bangladesh. As PPD
deals with countries with different
languages, the candidate should necessarily
have a sound working knowledge of
English and French, while the knowledge
of Arabic will be considered as an
added advantage. The candidate should
have an excellent track record and
experience of working in the developing
countries and wider contact with development
assistance providers.
Responsibilities
Primary
Function of the Position:
Under
the leadership and overall supervision
of the Executive Director, the International
Program Coordinator’s primary
responsibilities shall be the development
of project proposals, securing funding,
overseeing implementation, monitoring
and evaluation; conducting advocacy
for the promotion of PPD vision, mission
and objectives; networking with national,
regional and international organizations
towards achieving PPD’s organizational
mandate. The International Program
Coordinator will ensure that programs
and projects activities are implemented
timely, efficiently and effectively
according to project document, donors’
requirements and PPD policies. One
of the most important responsibilities
of the position will be coordinating
the work of the Program Team.
The
specific responsibilities include:

Assume the leading role in the development of projects and programs in line with the vision, mission
and mandate of the organization and needs and priorities of the Member States;

Coordinate necessary surveys and needs assessments to identify the priorities, needs
and gaps in the areas of reproductive health, population and development of the member states;
-
Develop and continuously update the inventory of specific donor agencies and their funding areas,
priorities, policies and procedures.

Channel projects to appropriate donor agencies, maintain constant
liaison and effectively negotiate funding of the projects;
-
Implement program and project activities timely, effectively and efficiently simultaneously
conducting evaluation and monitoring for ensuring desired outcomes and impacts and ensuring sound
budgetary control and financial procedures;

Prepare high quality technical progress reports and project completion
reports in line with donors’ reporting procedures and requirements;
-
Maintain constant liaison with different collaborating agencies
and institutions in respect of project and program development and implementation;

Coordinate the works of the other members of the program team and
ensure their optimum performance and outputs towards achieving
organizational goals and objectives;

Coordinate the annual, periodical and long-term planning exercise
for the organization;
-
Carry out any other duties as and when assigned by the Executive Director.
Professional
Competencies:
-
At least 10
years experience in bankable project
proposal development and project/program
implementation management in the
fields of Reproductive Health,
Population and Development with
participation GOs, NGOs or private
sector organization including
5 years experience particularly
in Asia, Middle East or Africa
Region;
-
At least five
years working experience with
International Development Agencies
and donor agencies in managing
reproductive health, population
and development programs at national,
regional and international levels
in a senior program management
position.

Demonstrated
ability, skills, expertise and
experience in personnel management
including supervising and mentoring
a multi-disciplinary workforce
and contribute to the professional
development of other colleagues
-
Excellent oral
and written skill in English and
French is essential, while the
knowledge of Arabic would be considered
as an added advantage;
-
Sound knowledge
and experience of operating word-processing,
spreadsheet analyses and database
software and using Emails and
Internet.
Academic
Qualification:
-
Masters in Public Health/Medical/Social
Science.
- Additional
postgraduate or other equivalent
qualifications would be considered
as an added advantage.
