12th International Inter-Ministerial Conference on Population and Development: Every Woman, Every Child, Every Adolescent


Partners in Population and Development (PPD) is organizing the 12th International Inter-Ministerial Conference on Population and Development: Every Woman, Every Child, Every Adolescent on 21st November 2015 in Dhaka, Bangladesh. This conference will be jointly organized by Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MOHFW), Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh and in collaboration with UNSG’s “Every Woman Every Child” Initiative.

Goal of the conference

  • To promote and ensure South to South Cooperation for continued commitment and country ownership for ‘Every Woman, Every Child, and Every Adolescent’ reflected through SDGs in the PPD alliance and other developing countries.

 Objectives of the Conference

 To provide a high level peer review and advocacy platform for:

  • Mobilization of resources at all levels (domestic, regional and global) to scale up and sustain efficient and equitable delivery of multi-sector RMNCH quality services in the implementation of the Global Strategy for Women’s, Children’s and Adolescents’ Health.
  • Advocating and generating support for strong national leadership and ownership of the implementation of the Global Strategy for Women’s, Children’s and Adolescent’s’ Health.
  • Strengthening SSC partnerships (state and non-state actors) for the implementation of the Global Strategy for Women’s, Children’s and Adolescents’ Health.
  • Advancing support for integration RMNCAH and interventions for HIV, to improve healthy and productive lives and futures for women, girls and adolescent.

 

Conference sessions and themes

The conference will have four sessions based on the 2014 ICPD Framework of Action and post 2015 Agenda reflective of the ‘felt needs’ of the PPD member states to improve RMNCAH as reflected in the 2015–19 strategic plan and also aligned to the overall ICAAP12 goals.

Session one: Financing for the Global Strategy for Women’s, Children’s and Adolescent’s’ Health.

Session two: National leaderships and ownership in support of Every Woman, Every Child, Every Adolescent.

Session three: SSC – A viable “global partnership between governments of developing countries” in support of Every Woman, Every Child, Every Adolescent for sustainable development.

Session four: Investing in every woman, every child and every adolescent: Ending AIDS by 2030:

Outcome of the conference

  • Adoption of the Dhaka Declaration by 26 PPD alliance countries and key stakeholders with tangible commitments and actionable recommendations for re-invigorated SSC for multi-sector implementation of the ICPD PoA beyond 2014 within the SDG framework, with priority focus on reproductive, maternal, newborn, child and adolescent health (RHNCAH) and HIV/AIDS.
    The Declaration will have key recommendations for ensuring country-level leadership and ownership for prioritization and identification of multi-sector high-impact interventions as well as investments for sustainable women’s, children’s and adolescents’ health.
  • The 12th IMC recommendations shall inform the PPD alliance of joint statements on RMNCAH towards finalization of the implementation plan of the 2016–30 Global Strategy to be held during the World Health General Assembly in May 2016, and during the Women Deliver International Conference of 16–17 May 2016.
