Gambia joined the alliance in 1999.
- PPD in collaboration with the Government of Gambia organized an one day National South-South Workshop on 4th September 2008.
- In 2002, Gambia conducted a training course in FP/RH, “Reproductive Health Advocacy and Programme Management in the context of Muslim Religious Practices”, under the GLP with technical assistance from the Cairo Technical Office for Islamic religious leaders from Senegal, Nigeria and Gambia.
- Gambia hosted a 2-day seminar entitled “Strengthen NGOs’ participation in South-South Activities” which was attended by 37 participants representing IPPF, Ford Foundation, Ministry of Health and Population (MOHP), National Commission for Population and Development for NGOs, national leading NGOs and national institutions working with NGOs. At the same time, the country has benefited from fellowship programmes from Egypt and India.
- Gambia participated in the documentation workshop for best practices in Sub-Saharan Africa hosted by Uganda in December 2000.
