A Virtual Meeting with the Health Professional on “Providing Comprehensive, Safe and Appropriate Intervention to Prevent Postpartum Hemorrhage for Reducing Maternal Mortality in Bangladesh” Funded by Chinese Government’s South-South Cooperation Assistance Fund (SSCAF) was held on 28th July 2020

Partners in Population and Development (PPD), in joint collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare of the Government of Bangladesh including the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) and Directorate General of Family Planning (DGFP) has been implementing the project titled “Providing Comprehensive, Safe and Appropriate Intervention to Prevent Postpartum Hemorrhage for Reduction of Maternal Mortality in Bangladesh”. The very title of the project indicates the overarching objective of the project of reducing the maternal mortality in Bangladesh utilizing the safe and appropriate interventions. Presided over by Mr. Nitish Sarkar, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Health Welfare of the Government of Bangladesh, the PPD Executive Director, Mr. Ben Haj Aissa Adnene delivered Opening and Closing Statements. The Virtual Meeting was attended by 44 very high-ranking Government officials from the Ministry, Directorate of Health Services and Family Planning, Civil Surgeon of Gazipur and Kaliganj Districts, other involved government officials as well as the distinguished professionals of the country. The meeting focused particularly on sharing and explaining the structured questionnaire on Conducting the Baseline Survey of the project, which is essential to measure the success of the project after implementation. Following presentation of the Questionnaire by Dr. Nazrul Islam, Program Director of PPD, very valuable inputs and feedbacks were provided by Mr. Abdus Salam, Deputy Chief of Planning, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Dr. Mohammed Sharif, Director (MCH-Services) & LD (MCRAH), DGFP, Dr. Md. Sharnsul Haque, Line Director, MNC & AH, DGHS, Civil Surgeons of Manikganj & Gazipur, Deputy Directors, District Family Planning Offices, Manikganj and Gazipur. The importance of the meeting was greatly enriched with the participation and contribution of the most distinguished gynecologist of the country Prof. Dr. Sameena Chowdhury, President, Obstetric and Gemological Society of Bangladesh (OGSB). The officials and institutions expressed very high commitment of working and extending all necessary support and assistance towards the successful organization of the project beginning with the Baseline Survey.
