Short term Consultancy at PPD Secretariat for South-South Youth Platform


Background

The Partners in Population and Development (PPD) is a global Inter-Governmental Organization (IGO) that comprises 27 developing countries across Africa, Asia, Latin America, and the Middle East. With its representation of more than 60% of the world’s population, covering a major part of the youth population, it possesses a great opportunity to leverage on the current need for youth mobilization through SSTC. In collaboration with UNFPA, the PPD strengthens its mandate by the integration of SRHR in the promotion of youth which is particularly important to expand development programmes in a post-pandemic era. In order to accelerate the achievement of the ICPD goals and the SDGs, the partnership between PPD and UNFPA will launch a unique platform for young people to engage in SSTC, called “The South-South Youth Platform” (SSYP).

Job Responsibilities

  • Ensure active involvement on launching PPD’s South-South Youth Platform (SSYP)
  • To develop a Social Media Communication Plan for SSYP.
  • To review global youth communication plan to reinvigorate and expand meaningful youth engagement and leadership through South-South cooperation
  • To identify the appropriate way for social media engagement for SSYP to increase visibility.
  • Develop original content and suggest creative ways to engage social media for SSYP
  • Adopt a youth centered approach as part of the SSC response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • Ensure effective participation by young people in SSC advocacy through PPD’s social media
  • Strengthen and engage youths in an effective communication strategy that utilizes social media, online and offline platforms, and innovative means of youth participation.
  • Prepare background documents for the meetings and provide report on meeting
  • Generate, edit, publish and share content (original text, images, video or HTML) that builds meaningful connections and encourages community members to take action

Qualification/ Experience/ Other Skills

  • Bachelors in Social Science/Mass communication or any other discipline from any recognized university with minimum 2nd division/class or equivalent GPA/CGPA in all academic examinations.
  • 01 year of work experience in the related field is preferred.
  • Practical work experience in facilitation youth centered activities
  • Sound interpersonal skill and communication and writing skills in both English;
  • Good analytical, project management and programme implementation skills
  • Should have the capacity to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
  • Proficient in using different computer applications
