Announcement : International Journal for Population, Development and Health

Partners in Population and Development (PPD) is pleased to announce that significant progress has been made in relation to implementing PPD’s plan to publish a scientific journal. Dr. Abbas Bhuiya, an accomplished public health and population scientist, former Deputy Executive Director of the International Centre for Diarrhoeal Diseases Research, Bangladesh (ICDDR,B), has been appointed as the Chief Editor of the International Journal for Population, Development and Health from 1st of September 2016. With this a long cherished dream of PPD leadership is going to be materialized.

Please feel free to drop your comment about the scope of the journal at ppdjournal@ppdsec.org

The journal will publish high quality research on reproductive health and rights, HIV/AIDS, poverty alleviation, women empowerment, and other relevant areas in line with ICPD goals and SDGs with focus on PPD member countries and other LMICs. The journal will provide a unique platform for publishing articles blending programme implementation and policy issues using social science disciplines.

An international editorial board will be formed with subject experts drawn from PPD member and non-member countries. Depending on the need an advisory committee may also be formed. Chief Editor will be the in-charge of the journal.
The journal is expected to promote south-south cooperation through publishing relevant publications and it also encourages authors living and working in Global South to share their write-up and experiences. The journal will be online, open access, in English language, and free for the authors from PPD member countries.

First issue is expected to be available by the first quarter 2017. The formal launching of the journal will be made early next year when the first issue will also be published.

Detail of the editorial board and the submission instructions will be shared in a follow up announcement.
