Partners in Population and Development (PPD) is pleased to announce the reopening of its New York office, the Permanent Observer Mission of Partners in Population and Development to the United Nations. The reopening marks an important step in strengthening PPD’s presence in the multilateral system and advancing the collective priorities of its 28 Member Countries at the United Nations.
Located in the heart of New York’s diplomatic community, the office will support PPD’s engagement with Member States, United Nations entities, permanent missions, development partners, and other stakeholders. It will serve as an operational platform for promoting South South and Triangular Cooperation in reproductive health, population, and sustainable development, while helping to ensure that the perspectives and priorities of PPD Member Countries are effectively represented in relevant global policy discussions.
The reopening follows PPD’s recent efforts to deepen its multilateral engagement during the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly. On 24 September 2026, PPD and the DMUN Foundation signed a Memorandum of Understanding establishing a framework for cooperation in areas of shared institutional interest, including the support for the establishment and operation of PPD’s Permanent Observer Missions in New York, Geneva, and Vienna. In connection with an Agreement on the Provision of Services concerning the New York Mission, PPD also formally accepted the nomination of Ms. Myelle Mariah Rodgers as PPD Permanent Observer to the United Nations in New York.
The office will contribute to PPD’s efforts to build stronger institutional partnerships, facilitate participation in multilateral forums, convene policy dialogue and side events, and promote knowledge exchange on issues central to the International Conference on Population and Development agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals. It will also support PPD’s work to advance practical, country led solutions and greater visibility for South South Cooperation across the Global South.
Professor Dr. Joseph Akinkugbe Adelegan, Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of PPD, noted that the reopening represents a timely opportunity to reinforce PPD’s role as an intergovernmental platform and Permanent Observer at the United Nations. He emphasized that a stronger operational presence in New York will enable PPD to engage more closely with its Member Countries and partners, while pursuing more effective cooperation and resource mobilization in support of national development priorities.
The Permanent Observer Mission of Partners in Population and Development (PPD) to the United Nations is located at:

Through the renewed presence of its New York office, PPD reaffirms its commitment to constructive multilateral engagement and to amplifying the voice, experience, and priorities of its Member Countries in the global development agenda.
