PPD’s FY 2014 work plan is approved


Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe — The 5th Program, Planning and Development Committee Meeting of Partners in Population and Development (PPD) was held in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe in 5th January, 2014. A dynamic and target oriented work plan for PPD focusing on its 20th anniversary of PPD as well as 20th anniversary of ICPD PoA has been approved from this meeting.

H.E. Mr. Matia Kasaija, Member, PPD Board and the Honourable Minister of State (Planning), Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development, Government of the Republic of Uganda chaired the meeting and Mr. George A Kichamu, Secretary, PPD Board and Director General, National Council for Population and Development(NCPD) Government of the republic of Kenya contributed as a co-chair.

The meeting adopted the minutes of the last 5th Program, Planning and Development Meeting held in Beijing in 2013. The meeting also elaborately discussed the work plan and priority themes and activities of FY2014.

Meena, Director, RCH, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, Mr. George A Kichamu, Secretary, PPD Board and Director General, National Council for Population and Development Government of Kenya, Dr. Osama Refaat, PCC and International Master Trainer, Johns Hopkins University, Technical Adviser to the Minister’s Assistant, Ministry of Health and Population, Government of Egypt; Dr. Betty Kyadondo, PCC and Head of Family Health Department Population Secretariat (POPSEC), Ministry of Finance, Planning & Economic Development, Government of the Republic of Uganda, Dr. Joe Thomas, Executive Director of PPD and Dr. Lorna Tumwebaze, Deputy Executive Director, PPD were present in the meeting.
